Context and Objectives

The BIBS platform offers methods for the physicochemical characterization of bioresources, natural or transformed, on a range of scales from the molecule to the object.

Its expertise concerns the structural analysis of biopolymers as well as in multi-scale and multimodal imaging and data processing (spectra and images).
It relies on scientific equipment and skills in four analytical fields: mass spectrometry, microscopy, NMR, and chemical phenotyping. It is supported by a dedicated bioinformatics group.
More specifically, the approaches apply to systems of agronomic origin in the broadest sense (terrestrial or marine plants, plant tissues or organs, food or feed matrices, agro-based materials, model systems, etc.), and allow :

  • Identification and quantification of biopolymers
  • Fine structure analysis of complex polysaccharides and proteins
  • Chemical phenotyping of bioresources
  • Multimodal and multiscale imaging of systems
  • Study of molecular dynamics and interactions between biopolymers
