The commercial movement of animals between herds is a major route for the spread of pathogens. They are extensively traced for cattle in Europe. They have been characterised by a fine analysis of the dynamic, oriented and weighted network of contacts that they constitute. This has enabled their integration into an original multi-scale epidemiological model of bovine paratuberculosis transmission, driven by data representing more than 12,000 interacting herds. This model makes it possible to prioritize complex disease control strategies at the regional level.
