A web conference of the IFCE by BIOEPAR

On June 8, 2021, the Institut Français du Cheval et de l'Equitation (IFCE) offered a BIOEPAR webconference on "Piroplasmosis: parasites, ticks, Equids, environments."

Abstract :

Piroplasmosis. With this single term, two diseases with complex characteristics are already simplified. Equine piroplasmosis is in fact two different parasites responsible, each with a very high genetic diversity. Equine piroplasmosis, there are several different possible vectors, with several species/types of ticks present on Equidae, with or without the competence to transmit one or the other of the parasites. Piroplasmosis, Equidae are not equal in front of ticks and therefore in front of the diseases they transmit. The piroplasmosis is therefore the result of a diversity of actors in different environments that influence its epidemiology.
