My research activity is focused on how the Type 3 effector repertoires may be involved in the pathogenicity of Xanthomonas strains, and how the evolution of such a repertoire may impact host specificity or trigger the emergence of novel pathogenic strains. Since 2011, I am also involved in the development of phenotyping approaches for monitoring the impact of biotic stresses on plants using various imaging modalities. I contributed to the development of the platform PHENOTIC at IRHS. Such phenotyping approaches enable the objective quantification of symptoms on various plants (A. thaliana, bean, apple). More recently, phenotyping approaches such as chlorophyll fluorescence imaging enabled the discrimination of the impact of various Type 3 effectors of Xanthomonas, even though no visible symptoms could be observed to the eye (Meline et al., 2020, Frontiers in Plant Science).  Link to Tristan's OKINA profile of the University of Angers
