LACTOMICS : Breast milk: an environment - sustainable food system - health interface [SYALSA Exploratory project]

LACTOMICS
An integrative approach based on food systems and their sustainability in the service of children's health

The composition of breast milk varies depending on the mother's diet and her environmental exposure. The LactOMICS project aims to put in place an integrative approach based on food systems and their sustainability in the service of children's health. This typical “farm to fork” approach aims to characterize 1) the impact of the nutritional, microbiological and chemical composition of breast milk on the postnatal development of the child in order to identify biomarkers of benefits but also of risks. potentials; 2) the nutrient-microbiota-contaminant interaction in breast milk; 3) modulation of the nutritional, microbiological and chemical composition of breast milk by maternal eating habits and their sustainability.
